Local Craft Champions Recognized by ABC
On Friday, October 21, the best of ABC Keystone’s fourth-year students went toe-to-toe in a competition that creates an opportunity for the top qualifiers to move onto the 2017 ABC National Craft Competition held March 1–3, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Fourth year apprentices represented three trades: electrical, carpentry, and plumbing.
ABC Keystone has a history of producing National Craft Championship medal winners representing the South Central PA area. Last year, two Keystone apprentices achieved high honors by earning a Safety Award and Bronze Medal in Carpentry and a Safety Award in HVAC.

The competition has two components: the written test, which counts for 25% of their total score; and the practical “hands-on” competition, which counts for 75% of their total score. Attendees of the Craft Competition were clearly impressed by the dexterity, focus and determination of these competitors.
