Your Support is critical to introduce students to careers in construction

Our next Workforce Development event is coming up soon!carpentry station

On April 21, 2016, ABC Keystone held an interactive career exploration event called "Construction Wars" in our newly renovated and expanded training center. Through the Construction Wars event, middle school students had the educational opportunity to see our training facility, work with tools, understand safety requirements, and learn more about the skilled trades. We also sought to help educators learn what the construction industry needs in its future workforce, and how careers in skilled trades are a viable, well-paying alternative to college.

We received tremendous positive feedback! Before the end of the event, member sponsors and volunteers expressed interest in participating in our future workforce development events! Educators are lining up for the information on 2017 Construction Wars, so they can make sure their students don’t miss this outstanding opportunity to learn about ABC and construction.

One middle school student responded:
“This event is one of the best events I’ve attended. I would recommend this to a friend. Construction is a lot more fun than I thought it would be.”
Directly from an administrator/teacher:
"This was an outstanding introduction to different trades and at the right age. Get the kids involved early! Happy to help with any future planning or brainstorming. Thank you for inviting us!”

Given the response from everyone involved with this event, we have expanded the Construction Wars event to THREE days to reach 180 middle school students!
