Gain confidence in layout work, writing field notes for as-built conditions, and future records. Perform math checks to minimize or eliminate errors. Set proper grade points using the right equipment for each task.

- Use transits, levels, and lasers in setting grades from benchmarks.
- Set and turn angles, building layouts and basic math.
- Recognize common errors and how to eliminate common field mistakes.
Benefit from hands-on experience in the class labs.
Participants will use what is discussed in the lectures in real work class labs. Lab exercises will be outside and model real work conditions.
