This past month was a celebration of Careers in Construction for the Keystone Chapter, and every week brought new faces to the Chapter training facility. Once again this year we hosted Construction Wars and introduced nearly 200 students to the construction industry. Hands-on learning activities for the students were made possibly through the hard work and efforts of members volunteering their time prepping materials for the students. Later that same week, members once again offered their talents and skills at the Apprenticeship Craft Competition and Construction Trades Discovery Day. The Chapter appreciates the assistance from members who helped to organize and prepare for the event in addition to serving as judges for the competition.

Throughout the month, our Education team hosted tours of the facility and attended career fairs sharing the apprenticeship program and the value of careers in construction with both students and educators. These tours have been instrumental in informing educators about the quality education that ABC Keystone provides and the lucrative career paths that are available in the industry for the next generation. The request for tours and information is growing steadily as more and more educators are discovering the value and potential the industry offers. ABC Keystone will continue to serve on your behalf and will to develop these relationships supporting workforce development.

The culmination of the the month was the Excellence in Construction Awards Gala held on October 24 at Spooky Nook Sports. Over 350 members and guests gathered to celebrate the outstanding construction in our communities accomplished by Keystone Chapter members. To be eligible for an EIC award, safety has to be top priority and proven throughout the year. ABC Keystone is proud of members’ continued commitment to safety and your involvement in the STEP program. Congratulations to Poole Anderson Construction for taking home the “Project of the Year” award!

Thank you to you, Members, for celebrating Careers in Construction Month with us and for your continued commitment to the merit shop mission!
