The STP Program is a construction-specific curriculum developed, field tested and updated by and for contractors. This comprehensive series focuses on the knowledge and skills that every supervisor must have to be an effective manager of people, time, equipment and materials on the jobsite.

Whether a person has been a field leader for years or is being newly advanced into this role, each can benefit from this intensive program. The STP sessions include case studies, discussion and role playing of real-world scenarios and situations that can arise in their unique workplace.

Each module is 24 hours of in-class education taught by construction industry professionals. Taking place every other Thursday, these full-day sessions allow the participants to comprehensively dig into the subject matter, form relationships with peers and learn best practices that can immediately be implemented on the job.

The units – six in all – take just over a calendar year to complete as classes take a break from mid-April through mid-September to accommodate the busiest building season.

Now is the perfect time to enter the series as Unit 1, Leadership & Motivation, begins on 12/19. Facilitated by Jeff Witmer of Pathway Business Advisors, participants will learn and practice the best ways to get the most out of their teams. Jeff also teaches the next unit, Communications (starts Jan 30), in which students will develop techniques to navigate different personalities and deal with confrontation in positive ways.

In Unit 3: Planning & Scheduling (begins March 12), Ralph Kautz, Project Manager at Wohlsen Construction Company, will teach preparing, communicating and executing plans, as well as maximizing efficiencies and value savings though intentional scheduling practices.

You can register for individual units to supplement skills or build the well-rounded supervisor every jobsite needs by enrolling in the full series. Contact Barbara Holtzapple at the Chapter with questions or to sign up. Registration is now open online at abckeystone.org.
