FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 3, 2018

(HARRISBURG, PA.) Today, the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) of Pennsylvania announced their endorsement of Republican Scott Wagner for Governor of Pennsylvania. The merit shop construction trade association cited Wagner’s commitment to free enterprise as a critical component to its support of his campaign.

Scott Wagner was first elected to the Pennsylvania Senate in a 2014 special election via a write-in campaign. He has since been instrumental in reforming leadership within the Senate and encouraging a more conservative caucus of Republican Senators through his leadership as chair of the Senate Republican Campaign Committee (SRCC). In 2018, Wagner resigned his Senate seat to focus on his campaign for Governor. Prior to his service in the state Senate, Wagner grew Penn Waste, Inc., a successful waste and recycling business that remains a member of ABC’s Keystone chapter.

ABC of Pennsylvania is comprised of five chapters across the Commonwealth, who collectively offered their endorsement of Wagner. “Scott’s dedication to issues like right-to-work that strengthen Pennsylvania’s business climate, as well as his proven track record as a successful business owner make him stand out as a candidate for Governor,” said ABC representatives in a joint statement. “We are offering our endorsement of Scott Wagner and are confident that he will defend free enterprise and promote the principles of the merit shop as Governor of Pennsylvania.”
