FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 24, 2017

(Harrisburg, PA) The five chapters of the Associated Builders & Contractors throughout Pennsylvania met earlier this month to evaluate candidates for statewide elected office and have endorsed United States Congressman Lou Barletta, a four-term Republican Congressman from Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional district, for United States Senate in 2018. Following a victory in the May primary, Barletta would face incumbent Democrat Bob Casey in November of 2018.

Congressman Barletta has the personal background and experience as a road construction business owner that is so vitally needed in Washington, D.C. right now,” said Joe Perpiglia, President and CEO of ABC’S Eastern Pennsylvania chapter.  “Throughout his tenure as a United States Congressman, Barletta has relied on that experience to make prudent decisions to help small business owners succeed, reduce the burden on taxpayers, and maintain a level playing field in construction.

Bob Casey has made virtually no effort to stand for free enterprise or protect Pennsylvania’s business owners and hard-working employees from burdensome government regulation and overtaxation.  While Lou Barletta has been championing ABC’s core values, like voting against union-only project labor agreements and dismantling the disastrous Affordable Care Act, Casey has been content to sit quietly and do nothing,” said R. Pete Gum, President and CEO of ABC’S Western Pennsylvania chapter.  “As a unified organization throughout Pennsylvania, we are proud to stand with Congressman Lou Barletta and his campaign to defeat Bob Casey in 2018.”
