FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 17, 2022

(MANHEIM, Pa.) The Keystone Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors announced the 2022 ABC STEP Safety Management System participants on Tuesday, August 16, during ABC Keystone’s Safety Recognition Breakfast presented by Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman PC. During the recognition event, representatives from Keystone Chapter member companies had the opportunity to hear remarks from Kevin Chambers, Area Director, U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA – Harrisburg Area Office.

Founded more than three decades ago, STEP is a world-class safety program that dramatically improves safety performance among construction industry participants, with top-performing Diamond members achieving incident rates 645% safer than the industry average. According to ABC’s annual Safety Performance Report, STEP participants, regardless of company size or type of work, can reduce recordable incidents up to 84%, making the best performing companies more than eight times safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry average. Ratings range from Diamond (the highest), to Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. STEP participants measure their safety processes and policies on key components through a detailed questionnaire with the goal of implementing or enhancing safety programs.

ABC members make it their top priority to ensure the safety of their employees,” said ABC Keystone President-CEO, G. David Sload. “By creating a culture of safety dedicated to the total human health of every employee, ABC members consistently raise the bar for safety in the construction industry. We are pleased to recognize these members who continuously enhance their safety programs and serve as top safety leaders in the industry.
