EVENT EMCEE: Matt Abeles, VP Construction Tech and Innovation, ABC National
Matthew Abeles is the Vice President of Construction Technology and Innovation for Associated Builders and Contractors. In this role, Abeles spearheads efforts to integrate construction technology and innovation into all aspects of ABC’s strategic initiatives, included but not limited to total human health, world-class safety and workforce development.
Abeles, who has advised and raised capital for many construction technology companies, is a recognized leader in the field. In 2014, he co-founded BuiltWorlds, a media company and digital network for construction, real estate, finance and development leaders, which hosts global events and produces industry research. In this role, he was responsible for outreach to established and emerging players in the construction and real estate sectors developing next-generation technologies.

MODERATOR: Dennis Stejskal, Director of Construction, SAGE
Dennis Stejskal has seen all sides of Construction/Real Estate technology. He has served in roles including Sales, Customer Support, Industry Consulting, Product Management, Product Line Director, and currently, Director of Strategy for Sage Construction and Real Estate. Dennis was hired by Timberline Software directly out of the Business school at the University of Wisconsin in 1979 and has been involved with the Sage Construction products ever since. Sage’s newest product Sage Intacct Construction makes the 7th generation of Timberline/Sage Construction software to which Dennis has contributed. Dennis’s comprehensive product knowledge and understanding of customer and market needs have been instrumental in the market launch of Sage’s third construction product Sage Intacct Construction. Dennis has been on the CFMA Technology Committee, including serving in co-chair positions. He has spoken at numerous events including CFMA National, AGC National and AICPA Construction National.

Trevor Prophet, Partnerships and Business Development, Buildops
Trevor Prophet leads business development and strategic partnerships at BuildOps, a Veteran-founded construction technology company that delivers service and project management software to commercial specialty subcontractors. Never one to shy from the startup scene, Trevor has held several business operations roles across a wide range of industries & growth stages – from being employee #1 at a pre-seed digital health startup, to a special projects lead at a national prop-tech company. Trevor served eleven years as a Naval aviator and as an Assistant Professor of Ocean Engineering at the U.S. Naval Academy, his alma mater. A Ventura, CA native he now resides in San Diego with his better half, Wendy, and newest pride and joy, Deacon (9 months old). Trevor holds an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and is a licensed Professional Engineer (Civil).

Zulq Malik, Chief Happiness Officer, SMARTBUILD
Zulq Malik graduated with a Degree in Civil Engineering and has amassed extensive experience within the ICI and Civil sector working for Developers and Leading General Contractors. Zulq was the owner of a General Contracting business for over 15 years. During his career, Zulq had the opportunity to gain valuable insight from the estimating departments perspective and from the field operations and office management team, cementing an insight on the day-to-day challenges of delivering construction projects. Around 2008, Zulq discovered that there was a substantial technological gap in managing projects and gaining real time insight and set off to develop an in-house Cloud Based Management platform. By 2009, Zulq was on his way to integrating and developing proprietary construction management software to optimize project management services. In 2018, SMARTBUILD’s – Construction Management Platform was launched to market and sell not only his solution but management services. With over 25 years of construction experience, Zulq remains connected to the sector with his initiatives, and is involved as a valuable resource to emerging and developing construction companies looking for solutions.

Mark has over 10 years of experience working with organizations evaluating various different software platforms. He can provide valuable insight into how other companies are leveraging KPA’s Safety Software to drive improvements within their safety programs.

Matt Oklevitch has served as the Marketing Director and in Dealer Development at Construction Robotics out of Victor, NY. Matt is passionate about promoting new tools and technologies to advance the construction industry, and is an advocate for the trades in various associations.

Britton Langdon, Chief Executive Officer, MSUITE
Britton Langdon is the founder and CEO of MSUITE, a construction software company located in the Midwest. With more than a decade in the construction industry, Britton uses his construction experience to spearhead the design and implementation of MSUITE’s products. Prior to MSUITE, Britton served as the Director of Support Operations & Business Development at an MEP where he directed their design and fabrication processes.

Guido Mangani, National Account Executive, Field Control Analytics
Field Control Analytics is a construction data analytics company that provides project labor data to drive down labor and project costs while increasing site safety, security and compliance. Project teams gain real time reporting of headcounts, hours and actionable data to better manage risk, scheduling, resource load planning and compliance on a project.
2 pm: Session 2 – Safety Technology Panel
MODERATOR: Adam Fairbairn, Senior Sales Engineer, Procore
Bringing 10-plus years of general contracting experience, Adam Fairbairn joined Procore Technologies in 2017 as a Solutions Engineer to work with prospective clients during the software evaluation process. He works collaboratively with company owners, construction managers, general contractors, architects, engineers, and specialty contractors to discover their needs and identify solutions to meet those needs. Adam is a product expert for the sales organization, conducting in-depth demonstrations of Procore’s software and works closely with account managers to ensure customer needs are being met. Prior to joining Procore, Adam spent time with JE Dunn Construction, Saunders Construction and most recently, DPR Construction. Starting down the Superintendent path, Adam was an early adopter of technology in his role. Whether it was using a robotic total station for layout, testing tablets and document apps, or piloting punchlist programs, Adam was on the leading edge of bringing technology to the field in the early 2000’s.

Phillip Ireland, Director of Safety, Benchmark Construction Company
Phillip Ireland provides overall leadership and support to the office and field staff through the implementation and supervision of project safety as prescribed by OSHA and company program safety standards. He oversees the tracking of all safety inspections, observations, accident investigation, etc. Phillip also supervises all safety and first aid training necessary for the office and field staff. Through his leadership, Benchmark has earned seven ABC Keystone General Contractor Safety Awards and two ABC National Safety awards. His unique approach to improving the safety on Benchmark’s job sites reflects the commitment to STEP which has earned Benchmark a 2022 STEP Platinum level. Phillip received his CHST certification in 2016. He actively serves on the ABC National and ABC Keystone Safety Committees.

Shawn Smith has worked the last twenty years producing industry specific safety training and software solutions. He is focused and passionate about life and injury saving training content. In his spare time he coaches a High School Robotics Team and plays music.
