Competent Person for Confined Space Compliance and Safe Entry

October 24, 2017  / 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Entry into confined spaces has always required special training, skills, and equipment. But with OSHA’s new construction confined space entry standard, a more detailed approach is needed and emphasis is placed on some work spaces – like attics and crawl spaces – that may not have been treated like confined spaces in the past.

OSHA expects all confined spaces to be evaluated for hazards prior to entry and for a permit to be used for confined spaces that present significant safety or health hazards (permit spaces). In addition, regardless of whether the general/controlling contractor will be entering the space, it has very important responsibilities under this standard.

This training will include discussion on the contents and requirements of the regulation and we will conduct hands-on exercises that build the skills necessary to effectively evaluate and manage entry into a construction confined space.

Benefits of Attending:

  • Gain an understanding and appreciation of the serious hazards associated with confined spaces, as well as those associated with the work and rescue-related activities that may take place in them.
  • Gain the knowledge and decision making skills needed to effectively evaluate a confined space for hazards that may be inherent to the space or that may develop as a result of work operations.
  • Benefit from hands-on exercise to learn the procedure for conducting a safe confined space entry, as well as how to use equipment essential for the task.
  • Use the information from this training to display a professional company image and exceed customer safety expectations by updating your existing confined space entry program and permit to the new OSHA construction standard.

Develop Your Knowledge and Learn More About:

  • Defining and identifying construction confined spaces.
  • Permit vs. non-permit spaces and other key terminology.
