DOL & Immigration Audit Readiness

No Cost Member Benefit Seminar
Presented by: Stambaugh Ness, PC

November 16, 2017 / 8:00 am – 9:00 am

Seminar Overview:

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) can audit employers at any time and typically provides little advance notice. By understanding the audit process, employers will be better prepared to handle a DOL audit. Join us for this breakfast & learn informational session to discover what to expect if your company is selected for a DOL and/or Immigration audit.  Payroll records, travel time policy, overtime calculation, and employee classification are only a few of the items that are reviewed during an audit.  With the construction industry being considered high-risk for audit, it is imperative that companies have the right processes and policies in place to ensure compliance.

Benefits of Attending:

  • Obtain a listing of the documents/records that are typically selected for review during an audit.
  • Learn best practices for managing travel time.
  • Learn the risks associated with incomplete or inaccurate I-9 forms.
  • Learn how to properly classify employees and independent contractors.
  • Better understand overtime calculation rules, especially when employees are paid different rates of pay for the different types of work performed.

 Key Takeaways:

  • Overtime calculation
  • Travel time rules
  • Audit checklist
  • I-9 forms and compliance
