Electrical Safety – Protection Requirements from OSHA & NFPA 70E

March 24, 2022 | 7:30 am – 3:00 pm

Seminar Overview:

This training will discuss the primary requirements of NFPA’s 2018 version of its 70E (arc flash) standard. In addition to live electrical work and arc flash safety, the program will discuss lockout/tagout and hazards of electrical energy.

There is not a valid reason for which live electrical work is authorized. OSHA and NFPA 70E expect that methods of control of hazardous equipment, including live electrical parts, to be locked and tagged out to implement safe work practices. Where OSHA and NFPA 70E do permit live work, electrical shock and arc flash hazards must be evaluated and special safeguards must be instituted. These safeguards include the use of the appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE), barriers and training.

Benefits of the Seminar:

  •  Gain an understanding and appreciation of the link between risk-taking with electricity and life-threatening injury
  • Gain the knowledge and decision-making skills needed to place equipment into an electrically safe work condition, and to evaluate, plan for, and safely carry-out this work in accordance with OSHA expectations where live work is authorized
  • Display a professional company image and exceed customer safety expectations by updating your existing electrical safety policies and procedures to current NFPA 70E standards
  • Properly select the appropriate PPE for tasks that involve troubleshooting and live work
