Employee and Contractor Compliance Concerns and Best Practices

December 11, 2019 / 8:00 am – 10:00 am

Don’t Trip into the Misclassification Pit

Seminar Description:

This seminar will discuss methods to ensure that workers classified as independent contractors are truly independent. With the push by the US Department of Labor to clamp down on misclassification, it is important for companies to make sure that everyone is classified correctly. Mistakes can cause them to be classified as employees, thus owing payment of back taxes, healthcare benefits, worker’s comp and penalties.

Benefits of Attending:

  • Gain knowledge and understanding of the PA Workplace Misclassification Act
  • Develop methods for avoiding pitfalls
  • Learn contract terms to shift risk between independent contractors
  • Delineate roles and control the worksite through the contract
  • Become familiar with best practices for employee benefit plan (retirement, health and welfare, and executive compensation) issues impacting employers in the construction industry.

Topics Covered:

  • PA Workplace Misclassification Act
  • Risk Shifting Clauses
  • General Employee Benefits and Compliance
  • Q&A with Ron, Jeff, and Sarah Ivy

Who Should Attend:

Owners, CFOs, HR Professionals and Project Managers will benefit from this seminar.
