Meet the Panelists

Adam Smith, H.B. McClure, President

Adam has been an employee-owner since H.B. McClure transitioned to employee ownership in 2010. He has served as an internal trustee for the company’s ESOP for 10 years and is proud of the wealth they’ve built for their employees over the past 15 years. Currently, Adam is entering his fifth year as President of HB McClure. A Penn State graduate, he spent four years wrestling there before it became popular. He is married to his junior high sweetheart and is the proud father of four active children.


Aimée Deraco, Brubaker, Inc., President

Aimee Deraco serves as the CEO of Brubaker, Inc. a 100% employee-owned home service and commercial construction company in Lancaster. Aimee has been leading businesses and serving the community in Lancaster County in a wide variety of industries for more than 29 years.

Professional achievements: Forty Under 40 in 2006, Best 50 Women in Business in 2007, Lancaster Chamber’s Athena Award in 2009, 25 Women of Influence Award in 2010, the Women of Influence Community Service Award in 2011 and the Lancaster Chamber’s Small Business Person of the Year Award in 2024.

Aimee is currently a mentor with the Chamber’s Discovering Paths program, a member of the Athena Award and Small Business Person of the Year Selection Committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Lancaster Chamber, ABC Keystone, Brightside Opportunity Center and Lafayette Fire Company.


Kevin McPhillips, Pennsylvania Center for Employee Ownership, Executive Director/CEO

 

Kevin has enjoyed more than 30 years working in both non-profit and private leadership. Before joining the Pennsylvania Center for Employee Ownership, McPhillips served as CEO of 1000 Museums, the leading online community destination for museums and exhibitions from around the world. Prior, he was President and Partner at The Princeton Companies, handpicked by the Governor’s Office as a model of NJ Business growth, served as President and co-founder of Direct Group, one of the nation’s largest Direct Marketing firms, and spent 8 years leading non-profit centers for citizens with special needs. His experiences managing and owning businesses taught him that employee ownership and investment IS good business. Kevin is a product of Northwestern University.


Scott Hackman, SHV Partners, Partner, CEO, Executive Advisor

Scott has over 20+ years of experience in leadership as an entrepreneur, executive advisor, public speaker, and transitions workshop facilitator. As CEO and Partner at SHV, Scott’s goal is to help leaders understand their emotional intelligence, values-based leadership, and conscious awareness so they can guide transitions and succession towards better outcomes.

Scott holds certifications as an Advanced Process Consultant, Leadership Coach for Organizational Performance, and Family Business Advising. Scott also holds an ICF (International Coaching Federation) Member Badge as well as a Master’s in Congregational Leadership from Eastern Mennonite Seminary.


Sean Tamba-Matthew, Stevens & Lee, Shareholder

Sean advises companies, business owners, boards of directors and employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) trustees on transactional, corporate governance and formation matters related to the design and implementation of ESOPs. Sean’s work includes drafting and negotiating agreements and other documents for stock purchases, leveraged buyouts, mergers, reorganizations and corporate governance and formation matters.

Sean began his career as a corporate transactional lawyer, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, fund services, venture financing and marketplace/P2P lending. His experience also includes advising nonprofit, charitable and other tax-exempt organizations and social enterprises.

Sean serves on the Advisory Board of Talley Management Group, a ESOP-owned company based in Mt. Royal, NJ. In addition to his professional work, Sean serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Independence Mission Schools, a network of 15 independent Catholic schools providing a transformative education to children of all faiths across Philadelphia, and Nutritional Development Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, an organization dedicated to alleviating food insecurity in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
