Estimate Quantities Accurately Each Time!
Preparing an estimate for the purpose of bidding a job is a skill that is essential for contractors, designers and others in the building trades. In this course you will learn to estimate the cost of general conditions, prepare a quantity take off for the materials to be used in the job, and extend unit prices to prepare an accurate bid. Move your project from blueprints to bids to final construction. Bring the job in on-time and on-budget, which means satisfied clients and maximum profits!
Classes will be conducted in an interactive, adult-learning format, with a mixture of lecture, discussion and activities. Class participation is expected of each student.
Students should bring a portable calculator and architectural scale.

Reading blueprints is a basic skill set required to be competitive in the industry and to make your business successful. Anyone who needs to know how to apply blueprint information towards determining costs for labor and materials will benefit from taking this course.
Ed Fisher, Light-Heigel and Associates: Ed is a Project Manager / Vice President for Light-Heigel and Associates, a Civil Engineering and Surveying firm and has been involved in the engineering and construction industry for more than 37 years. Ed brings a variety of real-life construction experiences and knowledge to the classroom for problem solving. His goal in every class is to help participants gain confidence in their abilities and to put their knowledge to work.
