How ABC can advance our policy priorities in the state legislature with a split legislature and narrow majority.
Pennsylvania is in a unique position as one of the few states with a split legislature: a Republican-controlled Senate and a Democratic-controlled House, yet neither chamber has a sizable majority for a voting bloc. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania still has several anti-competitive labor laws on the books from the 1960s that desperately need modernization. This Wake-Up Call will discuss:
- An overview of laws and regulations currently harming merit shops and taxpayers, along with an explanation of why they need to be updated.
- How ABC successfully fought back against several harmful policies last year that were championed by organized labor and legislators from both parties.
- Highlights of this year’s proposed state budget and its potential impact on the business community.
- A walk-through of ABC’s legislative priorities for this year and how we may capitalize on the need for compromise in state government, given the narrow majorities, for the benefit of all Pennsylvania workers.
