Men in the construction and extraction industry have the highest rate of suicide among all occupational groups. Statistically, construction employees are at a higher risk. This is because men, who make up 91% of the construction workforce, are more likely to die by suicide than woman. In addition, the construction industry employs a large population of veterans, who have a 1.5 times greater risk of suicide as compared to non-veterans.
This is a public health crisis. ABC Keystone is committed to providing education in identifying risks among the workforce, creating a normalized culture for conversations about mental health and training helpers for individuals who are struggling.

Greg Sizemore, Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment and Workforce Development and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention (CIASP) – Sizemore is tasked with directing ABC’s long-range strategic objectives related to creating an innovative, skilled, productive, healthy and safe workforce. Previously, he served as senior manager of craft development for Zachry Industrial, Inc., San Antonio, Texas, a role in which he provided enterprise-wide workforce development expertise to business development leaders, project management teams and clients. Sizemore has also worked for BE&K, Inc., Birmingham, Alabama, with recent roles as a manager of construction training and an employee training manager.
