This course covers understanding how project estimates are compiled, how to compare actual project costs with those estimated and how to control costs to meet the estimate. This course also details how productivity is measured, how the supervisor plays a major role in increasing jobsite productivity and how a small increase in productivity can have a significant impact on the time and cost of a project.

Ralph Kautz – Wohlsen Construction Company, is a dedicated project manager who draws on years of field experience to deliver results for clients. His construction career began in 1978, with his diploma in Carpentry from Reading Muhlenberg CTC. Ralph quickly advanced, working as a foreman and superintendent on commercial and healthcare projects. He then transitioned to project manager, and he is currently working at Wohlsen Construction Company. Ralph also served as a carpentry instructor at ABC Keystone from 2013-2019.  His experience and passion for the trade gave apprentices the skills to succeed. In 2017, Ralph was awarded ABC Keystone’s 2016-2017 Craft Instructor of the Year award.

The Superintendent Training Program (STP) is a construction-specific training curriculum developed, updated and field-tested by and for contractors. Superintendent skills – or the lack of them – directly affect every company’s bottom line. You make your money in the field, and the STP can help you improve your organization’s bottom line. This comprehensive six-unit program focuses on the knowledge and skills that every superintendent must have to be an effective manager of people, time, equipment and materials.

The STP curriculum creates an unmatched learning experience for participants. Every STP unit is activity based, with discussions, case histories, problems and exercises. Participants in STP units draw upon their field experience and learn by interaction with others from all areas of the construction industry. The six STP units account for a total of 120 hours of in-class instruction. Each unit is divided into multiple sessions. The structure of the program allows for flexibility so that units can be taught in several different formats. Units do not have to be taken in numerical order.

Price includes: course materials, textbook, certificate of completion.*

*Attendees must follow procedures for submitting materials to fulfill requirements to receive the STP certificate of completion. This course is offered on a continuous cycle. Units can be taken in any order for certification.

If you must cancel for any reason, please contact us immediately. Cancellations received less than 7 days of the start of class cannot be refunded; substitutions are permitted.
