When I was 19 years old, I had a job working as a parts puller for Raub Supply. While working at the counter, I was offered a job as a plumbing apprentice by a plumbing contractor. I decided to take the job to further my career. I always wanted to learn a trade so I could work anywhere in the world. My first weeks were labor-intensive, as I was busting concrete to install shower drains in an apartment complex. I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life. Regardless of the long days and my blistered hands, I stuck with it. I’m not a quitter, and I was determined to see it through. The more jobs I worked on, and the more I learned, the more I realized that I loved plumbing and working in the mechanical industry. It was what I wanted to do.

That was 35 years ago, and I still love the satisfaction and challenges that come with the job. As an owner and CEO with an open-door policy, I get to guide and watch the future leaders of our industry take pride in their work, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the next 35 years will take their professional lives.
