Founding Member Spotlight | Wohlsen Construction Company | June 2024

Wohlsen Construction

When Herman Wohlsen founded Wohlsen Construction Company in 1890, he embarked on a mission to construct exceptional projects that built strong relationships in the local community. Wohlsen quickly earned a reputation for a first-rate work ethic and remarkable attention to quality, and his legacycontinues with us 134 years later. We asked Wohlsen Construction how being an ABC Keystone Founding Member has impacted the business and what the future holds for Wohlsen. How has being a founding ABC Member made an impact on your company?
We are honored to be included as a founding ABC Member and, through our membership, have been rewarded with growth and recognition in our
community. Like ABC, workplace development is a top priority for Wohlsen Construction, and we demonstrate our commitment to skilled trades through our yearly involvement and leadership in ABC’s Apprenticeship and Construction Wars programs. What are your top 3 goals for your company?
1. To continue to deliver the best building experience for everyone involved in a project.
2. To provide our team with rewarding, challenging, and fun careers.
3. To positively impact the construction industry through growth in diversity and leadership for the next generation of construction professionals. What sets your company apart from its competitors?
Wohlsen Construction stands apart from our competitors due to our unwavering commitment to safety, integrity, and continuous improvement. As a full-service construction company, our expertise includes preconstruction, general construction, construction management, design-build, and IPD/lean
construction. We pride ourselves on the fact that we are now a 100% employee-owned builder, and every employee takes ownership and accountability on each of our projects. What exciting projects are on the horizon at your company?
Wohlsen is proud to have been awarded highly impactful projects that directly influence our local economy, including the Pennsylvania Police Academy
in Hershey, PA; U-Haul storage facilities located in Lancaster, Hershey, and Lebanon, PA; student housing expansion at Bucknell University; and increasing
regional access through projects at Lancaster and Harrisburg’s Amtrak Stations. What advice would you give to potential and current ABC Members?
ABC Keystone excels in providing quality resources for its members. Take advantage of ABC’s many networking opportunities, educational and training
opportunities, and consider joining a committee. Through these experiences, our team members have advanced in their careers at Wohlsen, increased their
skill sets, and built relationships with ABC Members that have strengthened and served the growth of the local construction industry. Visit Wohlsen at www.wohlsenconstruction.com
