ASHE Health Care Construction Workshop

Validate your knowledge of working in a health care environment!

Completely updated to include the latest ruling from CMS, the Health Care Construction Workshop combines an e-learning course and a two-day seminar. The program offers education with a comprehensive risk management approach to critical topics in health care construction, including: the health care planning, design, and construction process; Life Safety Code® compliance; construction risk assessment (including general risks and a special focus on infection risks); mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (MEP); medical gas systems; medical technology; and project expectations.

You will gain an understanding of the latest compliance issues in health care construction, and learn what owners, staff, and patients expect of constructors working in the health care environment. Earn 17.5 CEC’s (equivalent to 17.5 contact hours)!

“The course taught me to think from the hospital’s perspective so that I can do a better job for them.”
– Alex Byard, Warfel Construction Company

“This course was very impactful for me. It put a lot of meaning behind the ICRA measures we take and explained fully “the why” behind them.”
– Stephanie Kline, Benchmark Construction Co., Inc.

“I’m now more prepared to meet with hospitals and contractors to develop and enforce a risk mitigation plan.”
– Eric Hellman, Quandel Construction

“This class was very informative and has greatly increased my awareness of the risks involved with health care construction. The information I received will be invaluable in performing these projects going forward.”
– Kevin Ream, Wohlsen Construction Company

ASHE Certified Health Care Constructor (CHC) Exam Review Program

Designed to give you the tools for passing the Certified Health Care Constructor (CHC) Exam, this course provides test taking tips, key topics, and sample questions identified in the CHC content outline (as listed in the CHC Candidate Handbook). This course will also use interactive polling technology, allowing each participant to answer questions and compare their answer with averages among those in class.

Please note: The workshop fee does not include the CHC exam fee, nor does it register you for the exam. Participation in this program does not guarantee a passing score on the exam.

“This course provided valuable tips and information in preparing for and taking the CHC exam. The practice questions have given me a good sense of what to expect.”
-Kevin Kegarise, Benchmark Construction Co., Inc.

“This course exceeded all my expectations. It helped pinpoint specific areas of focus on the exam, prepare for those sections and reviewed how questions would be written for better interpretation.”
– Cory Mummert, Wagman Construction, Inc.

Infection Control Risk Management (ICRA) 16-Hour Certificate Course

Choose full 2-day ICRA course or 1st Day, 8-Hour ICRA Refresher course

Day 1 of this course explains the importance of construction-specific infection controls and best management practices for use in health care settings. Day 2 covers the techniques for constructing hard-wall barriers for the highest risk projects. This extensive hands-on exercise allows participants to construct a containment using drywall and metal framing, just as required in most health care facilities.

Medical Gas and Vacuum Piping Systems – Installers Certification Course ASSE 6010

Earn your Med Gas certification through hands-on training

Learn proper brazing techniques and requirements and gain knowledge in system installation for hospitals, office-based occupancies, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities.

NFPA has mandated brazing qualifications since 1993. The 2012 edition of NFPA 99 mandates that all installers meet the requirements of the A.S.S.E series 6010, 32-hour course. In addition, many major design firms now mandate compliance with the ANSI/A.S.S.E. 6000 series in their specifications. This is done typically in the same section of the spec that mandates compliance with the A.S.S.E 5000 series back flow prevention requirements.

“The information received in this course has not only educated me as to proper installation and testing of medical gas systems, but it also has enlightened me as to the personal responsibility for the safety of human life in so doing.”
– Don R. Crutcher, Frey Lutz Corp.
