(Manheim, PA) March 21, 2023 — ABC Keystone apprentices were awarded top honors at the 2023 National Craft Competition (NCC). The winners were honored at ABC’s Careers in Construction Awards ceremony during ABC Convention 2023 in Kissimmee, Florida, March 15-17.

The 2023 National Craft Championships featured nearly 200 of the nation’s top-performing craft professionals, including carpenters, electricians, pipefitters, plumbers, welders and more, all vying for top honors in 16 competitions with skills on display in 13 crafts. Showcasing the industry’s premier skilled trades profession, NCC celebrates and recognizes upskilling in construction, draws some of the country’s most talented craft professionals and highlights the important role that craft skills training plays in the construction industry.

“We are incredibly proud of all our competitors in the ABC National Craft Competition. The awards brought home display dedication and detail to their craft profession. All the competition winners represented ABC and their companies at a high level. They are the future of this industry, and we are both thankful and proud,” said ABC Keystone President-CEO David Sload.

NCC also featured a team competition with journey-level craft professionals from different crafts working to complete a joint project. The competition included a two-hour online exam and a six-hour practical performance test. The ABC Keystone team took home silver, a first for the Chapter.

“All the Keystone craft and team competitors did an excellent job at last week’s National Craft Competition. I’m so proud of them for their dedication, hard work, and commitment,” said Cynthia Dewire, Director of Apprenticeship.

Pennsylvania College of Technology walked away with bronze for safety in the Construction Management Competition (CMC). CMC is ABC’s hallmark competition promoting careers in construction management features teams of undergraduate students from colleges and universities who test their skills in project management, estimating, safety, quality control and presentation skills.
