This session serves as the foundation for the entire Construction Process series. Designed for individuals new to the construction industry or seeking to expand their knowledge, this comprehensive introduction provides an overview of the industry, key players, regulatory environment, and project workflows. Participants will leave with a clear roadmap of how projects progress from concept to completion and how various components interconnect within the construction lifecycle.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Understand the make-up and structure of the construction industry.
• Identify the network of key players involved throughout the project’s lifecycle, from inception to closeout.
• Recognize key documents used throughout the construction process and their functions.
• Understand how building regulations, codes, and inspections govern design and construction.
• Compare various project delivery methods and understand their strengths and limitations.
• Examine real-world project examples to highlight variability and nuance in construction.
