Gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely work in active healthcare environments. This 16-hour Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) Certificate Course combines classroom instruction with hands-on training, covering ASHE’s ICRA 2.0 guidelines, infection prevention, containment strategies, and negative pressure systems. Upon successful completion, participants earn an ICRA Certificate, photo ID card, and hard hat sticker, demonstrating their commitment to protecting patients and maintaining compliance on healthcare construction projects.
Day 1
You will learn about the history of infection control and its rising significance, with a focus on ASHE’s 2022 ICRA 2.0 guidelines for protecting patients during construction. The day includes a module on common infectious agents in healthcare construction and concludes with a 25-question exam requiring a 70% score to pass. Successful participants receive a certificate, photo ID card, and hard hat sticker. Day 1 can be taken alone if you’ll work within existing containment areas.
Day 2
In this hands-on exercise, participants will complete an ICRA permit and construct a negative pressure containment with an anteroom and manometer. They will also build asoft wall containment using supporting poles and attachments. Participants should bring basic tools for construction, as well as their hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves. Upon completion, they will receive a certificate of completion, a photo ID card, and a hard hat sticker.
