Excel Intermediate is a great follow-up to the Excel Basics & Beyond class. This course builds on foundational skills by exploring the design and functionality of well-structured worksheets. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how worksheet design impacts Excel’s ability to function effectively and efficiently.
This class is also an excellent refresher for individuals who have used Excel in the past and want to strengthen their skills before moving on to more advanced functions. Throughout the course, participants will learn valuable tips and shortcuts to increase efficiency and productivity.
Highlights of the class include advanced sorting and filtering techniques, creating formulas to analyze filtered data, and utilizing new and enhanced features available in Excel 2019 and Microsoft 365.
Topics to be covered in this course are:
- Vlookup vs XLookup (formula)
- Concat (formula)
- SubTotals (formula)
- Sorting & Filtering Data
- Slicers to filter a list
- Copy and Print Filtered Lists
- Subtotals Reports
- Conditional Formatting
- Advanced Printing (selections, multiple worksheets, headers/footers, page breaks)

Liz Hornberger, President & Founder of PC Focus
PC Focus began its 35th year, on January 15, 2025, providing training and other services in Central Pennsylvania. Elizabeth Hornberger, president of PC Focus, founded the company in January 1990. Liz has been in the computer training and development business for over 35 years. She continues to run PC Focus with the same philosophies that sparked this career many years ago.
Liz is also a part-time adjunct professor, teaching Gen ED computer classes at in Lancaster. It is a privilege to teach and to prepare students for “real-life” and how computers will impact them now and in their future endeavors. This semester, with four classes and nearly 80 students, I have many opportunities to make a difference.
