This course is designed for individuals with little to no experience in construction. Proficiency in blueprint reading will develop with regular practice and application on the job. Through this hands-on course, students will build confidence and gain experience through practical activities, class exercises, and homework assignments.

What You Will Learn:

  • Symbols, abbreviations, and line types used in construction prints, details, and elevation drawings
  • Basic math skills tailored for construction purposes
  • Techniques for adding and subtracting dimensions with fractions, and calculating areas and volumes for material estimation
  • The use of architectural and engineering scales

This six-week course is ideal for individuals new to the construction industry or those with minimal experience in reading blueprints. It’s perfect for anyone seeking to gain fundamental knowledge of building plans, terminology, and concepts, and looking to enhance their skills in interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

Ed Fisher
is a Project Manager and Vice President at Light-Heigel and Associates, a firm specializing in Civil Engineering and Surveying. With over 30 years in the engineering and construction industry, Ed offers a wealth of practical experience and insights. In his classes, he focuses on enhancing participants’ problem-solving skills and boosting their confidence, ensuring they can effectively apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.

Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel, please notify us as soon as possible. Cancellations made less than 7 days before the class start date are non-refundable. Substitutions are allowed.

Payment Information: ABC Members may choose to be invoiced. Non-members are required to pay at the time of registration, either online via credit card or by calling the Chapter office at (717) 653-8106.
