Electrical Safety – Protection Requirements from OSHA & NFPA 70E

ABC Keystone 135 Shellyland Road, Manheim, PA, United States

This training will discuss the primary requirements of NFPA’s 2015 version of its 70E (arc flash) standard. In addition to live electrical work and arc flash safety, the program will discuss lockout/tagout and hazards of electrical energy. There is not a valid reason for which live electrical work is authorized. OSHA and NFPA 70E expect that methods of control of hazardous equipment, including live electrical parts, to be locked and tagged out to implement safe work practices. Where OSHA and NFPA 70E do permit live work, electrical shock and arc flash hazards must be evaluated and special safeguards must be instituted. These safeguards include the use of the appropriate personal protection equipment (PPE), barriers and training.
