Infection Control Risk Management (ICRA) 16-Hour Certificate Course

Seminar Overview:

Day 1 of this course explains the importance of construction-specific infection controls and best management practices for use in health care settings. Day 2 covers the techniques for constructing hard-wall barriers for the highest risk projects. This extensive hands-on exercise allows participants to construct a containment using drywall and metal framing, just as required in most health care facilities.

The student must pass a 50-question multiple choice quiz with a 70% or better score.
Upon successful completion, each student will receive a signed certificate of attendance, photo ID wallet card, and hard hat sticker.

*Students will need to bring tools to build a drywall barrier

16 Hour ICRA Course limited to 15 students. Register early!


Course Content:

  Day 1:

  • ICRA matrix tool
  • Standard risk mitigation recommendations including typical equipment and supplies used on small-scale, short-duration (SSSD) projects
  • Emphasis on soft wall barrier controls such as Kontrol Kube, Zip Wall, and Poly-Hanger

  Day 2:

  • Build a hard-wall containment including an anteroom
  • Construct a soft-wall barrier to contain the dust from the hard-wall construction and take down
  • Establish a negative pressure work area using HEPA equipped air filtration devices
  • Use a manometer to measure the pressure differential
  • Properly complete the ICRA permit post and post the required signage at the entrance of the containment
  • Review and use the ICRA matrix and daily checklists
  • Review other ICRA requirements
  • Complete a 50-question exam

Instructor:

Greg Ashman is currently president and senior instructor for Professional Training Associates, Inc. (PTA). He conducts a wide variety of courses and is recognized in Pennsylvania and West Virginia by consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies as an expert in the field.
