Competent Person for Jobsite Safety Inspections – Nittany Valley

March 26, 2024 | 7:30 am – 1:30 pm

at ABC Keystone Nittany Valley Office
898 N Eagle Valley Road
Howard, PA 16841

Seminar Overview:
Increase your understanding of the role of the Competent Person to assist in identifying the hazards associated with many of the jobsite programs requiring inspections.

OSHA requires that employers on construction sites conduct safety inspections of job sites and need a Competent Person designated by the employer to be responsible for the completion of the inspections. More specifically, a Competent Person is required to complete inspections of scaffolds, fall protection equipment and systems, trenches, confined spaces, and the list goes on.

Benefits of Attending:

  • Defining a Competent Person and their role on a jobsite.
  • Discover when and how often to complete inspections
  • Understand the connections between the General Contractor, Sub-contractor, and the Competent Person
  • Learn how this general requirement for site inspections ties to more specific inspection requirements found in other standards
  • Discover How inspections can be used to manage safety better
  • At the end of this session, participants will understand the importance of inspections, what to look for, and how to meet OSHA’s requirements.  This session will include classroom exercises to assist in developing the skills and knowledge to aid in developing inspection forms and guides used to create their competent person inspection program.

Develop Your Knowledge and Learn More About:

  • Review of the OSHA requirements related to site inspections
  • General site inspection requirements
  • Competent Person requirements for general applications
  • Competent Person requirements for specific applications
  • Identification of hazards (required inspection topics)
  • Documentation methods and requirements
  • Responsibilities for inspections on a multi-employer worksite

Who Should Attend:
OSHA requires a competent person for safety inspections.  Anyone who has the potential to or has been identified by their employer to conduct a worksite inspection should attend. Learn the requirements applications and understand expectations when OSHA inspectors show up.

Since site safety and inspections are required, lead persons, supervisors, foremen, project managers, or even individual tradespersons have been most likely tasked with company safety responsibilities. These persons, along with Safety Managers and Construction Managers responsible for maintaining and implementing inspection programs, will benefit from attending this informative program.
