Maximizing Opportunities for Returning Citizens and the Construction Industry
ABC Keystone continues our free member education series on second chance hiring for returning citizens with a conversation about Background Checks.
No cost to attend! Please register by completing a ticket below.
Seminar Overview:
Our panelists will share their experiences facilitating employment for returning citizens; explain how to read and interpret background checks; and provide an understanding of the “do’s and don’ts” while also highlighting the practical application of performing due diligence in hiring. Discussion will include opportunities to ask questions and discover best practices.
Creating Opportunities & Building New Lives:
ABC chapters across Pennsylvania coordinated efforts and signed a statewide articulation agreement with the PA Department of Corrections. Often, an inmate is incarcerated at a facility away from their home. The new agreement provides returning citizens with access to all ABC registered apprenticeship programs in the Commonwealth and credit for their education while incarcerated. The Keystone Chapter is providing this forum for contractors and workforce professionals to help employers navigate the issues related to potential employees’ transition from the criminal justice system back to society.
Panelists:
- Lori Stoudt, Apprenticeship Liaison, Berks Connections/Pretrial Services
- Kathleen Stone, Employment Development Specialist, Berks Connections/Pretrial Services
